Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
